A few of my friends have been poking me because I haven’t posted in a long time. I do have a few posts I’m working on that you will soon see, but I decided to put this up so you can see a little bit of where I’ve been spending my creative writing time. I warn you in advance that it is a selling piece aimed at preachers. But, it’s relatively short and free to read. And, who knows, you may have just found a gift for that hard-to-please preacher friend. Or, maybe not. Either way, here it is.
Have you ever noticed that finding help or advice on how to become a better pastor or speaker is easy? Every day, your mail box is filled with invitations to conferences that guarantee to make you a dynamic leader or show you how to grow a thriving church.
But what I discovered is that nobody offers a seminar on what to tell your kids when half the congregation moves to the church down the street.
Most of the instruction on how we minister to people suffering loss or struggling with grief centers around quoting a few scriptures and softly singing an old hymn. Seldom are we shown how to guide them during the coming months.
And everybody, including all my preacher friends, is an expert in nonprofit tax law. However, most of their knowledge comes from conversations within their fellowship circle — not from tax law they can point to. A tax audit and $1,000 in penalties and additional taxes led me to that conclusion.
I can’t tell you how many times in the past forty years I wished there was one place I could go when I had questions about a preacher’s life. I never found that place.
So, I decided to build it.
I don’t claim to have all the answers and I’m not selling myself as some all-knowing guru, but I have gathered a bit of information from all I’ve experienced since I received my ministerial license way back in 1978.
As we share information focused on a preacher’s life, we pledge to document everything we tell you. If we talk about taxes, for example, we’ll point you to a regulation or accountant’s advice. If we’re just sharing our opinions, we’ll make sure you know that, too.
We’ll share all this through a membership site called A Preacher’s Life. We’ll create about 25 video sessions per year. Our subscribers will have constant access to view and read at their convenience.
Since this is a brand-new venture, we know that there will be a few hiccups as we get started. So, we are offering an introductory rate for the next month or so. Those who sign up now will keep the same low rate for as long as they want to hang around – in exchange for helping us get through the startup stage.
The first sessions will be released the week of December 15, 2019. We’ll have three sessions posted before the first of the year that are vital to good tax management for preachers. Then, we’ll discuss a variety of topics each month ranging from how to write books to disciplining your kids. If it’s part of a preacher’s life, we’ll be talking about it.
I could go on and on with more examples, but I think you’ve heard enough to know whether or not you are interested. And one of our pledges is to not overload you with needless noise. We will deliver our information in a way that is easy to access and simple to apply.
If you find this compelling, all the details are at sevenorders.com. Sign up now and don’t miss a day of a preacher’s life.
See, now that wasn’t so bad, was it? And it’s the best deal you’ll find on Black Friday.
As we enter the Christmas season, may you and yours continue to experience God’s very best.
