In my few decades on this Earth, I don’t recall a time when men were more determined to prove their collective stupidity. It’s as if every evening the world’s movers and shakers review that day’s events, and plot how they can come up with something even more ridiculous before sunrise. How else can you explain our new rule that children can choose whether they want to be a boy or a girl, that everybody has free access to everybody else’s bathroom, and that the NFL and PayPal can refuse to do business with people they disagree with, but people who live in North Carolina cannot? We are so full of ourselves that we can’t see how perfectly we are fulfilling Romans 1:22. Professing ourselves to be wise, we’ve become fools.
We make very few of the products we consume in America any more. Now, we buy all that stuff from foreign countries that don’t like us while we sell each other information, personal services, medical care, and food. Quite a financial infrastructure. More than 45 million Americans are on food stamps, and Gallup reported last year that only 44% of Americans over the age of 18 have a full-time job. Meanwhile, the deficit widens and our national debt is now more than our total economic production.
Like drunken pirates in a new port, our leaders scramble to make sure we (and they!) can satisfy every lust and desire our bodies crave and our minds imagine. Both the lessons of history and the rules of law are ignored by those who have vowed to uphold and preserve our Constitution, enabling a dozen judges to dismantle centuries of cultural values that form the foundation upon which our liberties rest, and in which millions of us trust. Those who celebrate the destruction of traditional family values and sexual mores cannot see that the moral fabric they are shredding is the same cloth from which honesty, integrity, respect, and trust is cut. In the future, when they write commentaries on how cruel and calloused the culture has become, the irony that the culture was custom created by them will go right over their heads.
We shouldn’t be surprised that we are now required to keep our bathroom doors open for anyone who desires to enter. Our government has been stripping Americans of our security for several years now. Their open door immigration policy welcomes criminals and terrorists to travel in and out of our borders almost at will. The executive branch has thumbed their noses at the law while enabling hundreds of unvetted foreigners to secretly arrive and settle in this country. They trash and intimidate our police, the last wall standing between us and anarchy. They even want to close Gitmo and transfer the remaining militants to the United States. Why would a government that won’t protect you from terrorists care about who might follow you into the bathroom?
When biblical principles no longer form the foundation for human civilization, that civilization will unravel. The gentle ebb that began decades ago by questioning prayer in schools has become a river without banks, its relentless current raging against the principles and traditions upon which this nation was founded, drowning any person or anything that stands in its way.
So, what is a Christian to do?
You must refuse to think and act like this world. To do that, you must read the Bible and embrace its concepts. Do your best to make your lifestyle reflect what is taught in that sacred book.
You must pray. Prayer and the Bible work together. Spirit and Truth. We’ve got to have them both working in tandem.
Pray for yourself, for your family, and for your friends.
Pray for our country and its leaders.
The only hope for America is to turn back to God. But you and I must make sure that America’s current trends do not cause us to turn from God. Don’t let the follies of this age lure you away. You may stand alone and others may ridicule your decision, but Jesus is coming back for those who remain faithful.
Don’t let the foolishness of this world overwhelm you. Live the word. Pray fervently. Then leave it in God’s capable hands.

As I read I thought of what I heard years ago, “A river without banks is a swamp.” America, watch for the crocodiles. We are being swamped with immorality and iniquity. Get the boat, folks!
